At Bio-Rad, we believe that great ideas can come from anyone, at any time. And we believe that we are stronger, more innovative, and more successful by developing and promoting diversity within our workplace. Our goal is to create a Bio-Rad where everyone can feel a strong sense of commitment and belonging. We are excited about our journey and are looking for others to join us as we focus on the following four pillars.
With support from every level of our organization, employees at Bio-Rad are encouraged to join in our collective efforts around diversity and inclusion. Through our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Task Force and specialized Employee Resource Groups, employees partner together to help develop and implement various programs, promote new talent, and collaborate on events that highlight diversity and inclusion.
We are passionate about advancing inclusive research in our industry, and we are committed to supporting diverse and under-represented groups in our local communities. In 2021, we built upon our longstanding Bio-Rad Scholarship Program and awarded six scholarships to students from multicultural backgrounds in Northern California. In 2022 and 2023, we expanded these efforts and awarded an additional 25 Diversity Scholarships.
As we learn from past success, Bio-Rad is establishing new development and educational programs that advance the professional growth of women and employees from diverse backgrounds. We provide opportunities to diverse and under-represented employees through mentor/mentee partnerships, as well as through learning programs that increase the capability of our organization.
Our most important goal continues to be building a stronger organization through a more diverse and inclusive work culture. To this end, we are always looking for different voices and new faces, and our recruitment process is heavily committed to sourcing diverse talent and eliminating biases in the candidacy process. In early 2021, we hired a new Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Frenchelle Franklin, to lead our efforts in this area. In 2023, we hired two additional program managers to help expand our program in Asia Pacific (APAC) and in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
