Women's History Month: Exceptional Women at Bio-Rad Pt. 1

March 18, 2024

Every year, March is reserved for Women’s History Month—a month dedicated to honoring women’s contributions in US history. International Women's Day is also celebrated each year on March 8. To recognize and celebrate both events this year, we asked Bio-Rad managers to tell us about a woman they work with who embraces this year's theme of "Inspire Inclusion."

The response from our managers was overwhelming, so we have decided to feature all of the women nominated in three different posts along with the words from those who nominated them. This is our first post, and we will have two more before the end of the month!

Congratulations to all of the women here for making an impact on your peers, colleagues, and leaders!

Aouie Rubio, Project Manager/Scrum Master (US)

"Aouie is always thinking beyond what's in front of her by providing insights into the Women in Tech program, tackling complex issues and ensuring everyone has their moment to shine."

Sandrine Fricot, Production Supervisor (EMEA)

"Sandrine demonstrates team spirit and the drive to define and deliver against measurable objectives. She finds solutions for problems, looks outside the box, and uses the Lean approach to optimize what we do here at Bio-Rad."

 Akansha Shekher, Account Manager (APAC)

"Akansha was newly promoted and transferred to DBG, where she quickly ramped up and built excellent customer connect. Her focused approach with both internal and external stakeholders inspires others in the Field Staff to perform and work in an efficient manner."

Paula Bryan, Project Manager (US)

"Paula is an excellent project manager who takes on a high degree of responsibility in seeing projects through to successful completion. She is a role model as a process expert with an emphasis on people. In addition to her work, she recently held a baby shower for a female colleague which was semi-virtual so as to include everyone and help foster an environment of inclusivity and support for her female colleague with a growing family."

Ani Somani, IT Manager (US)

"Ani inspires other women with her professional accomplishments within IT, and is always inclusive of others, and excellent in teamwork situations. She is very collaborative and achieves great results due to working together with others. Finally, she's currently mentoring a more junior woman employee on her team, who has made great strides so far, and I know will continue growing into an excellent contributor due to Ani's guidance and support. Thank you Ani!"

Deborah Bevilaqua, Art Director (US)

"Deb has a motor disability which she has turned into a strength. She realizes things both personally and professionally that are a source of inspiration. She has an impressive energy and power to work."

Amber Rubinstein, Mechanical Engineering Manager (US)

"Amber is a member of the UC Berkeley section of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). She provides coaching for the group members and has been engaged in SWE for a significant amount of time. As a mechanical engineering manager, she consistently reviews D&I candidates for job openings and has done a great job of bringing together a very diverse engineering team."

Zarrin Mohammadi, SQA Manager (US)

"Zarrin leads by example, speaks-up, ask questions and brings herself and her team "to-the-table". She coaches her team leads who are now participating in the Bio-Rad Mentor program, and volunteers in many activities (Bio-Rad and personal, e.g. Aids walk)."

Monica Herrera, Sr. Director Medical Affairs (US)

"Monica is a relentless advocate for D&I. She holds herself to a high standard and does the same to all her peers and colleagues. Monica's sense of purpose and passion for advancement of women in leadership is nothing short of inspirational. She does not hesitate to call out opportunities for improvement, and she is equally sensitive to celebrate our wins together in this area."

"Monica relentlessly encourages us to consider building a robust talent pipeline comprising of women engineering candidates. This was evident during CDG's hiring spree in 2021 and 2022 where Monica served on the interview panel. Monica ensured that candidates interviewed and selected had a similar frame of mind."
