Chemical Process Operator II (Biotech) - $5,000 Hiring Bonus

This position is eligible for $5,000 HIRING BONUS

Responsibilities

As a Chemical Process Operator at Bio-Rad you will:

  • Work with high collaboration and teamwork within the CPO group and other departments to help achieve business goals. 
  • Champion the site's safety culture by following all safety policies while proactively identifying and reporting potential safety issues. Follow all procedures when handling chemicals to ensure all chemicals are disposed of according to regulations. 
  • Adhere to all safety protocols of the production process, especially on storing chemicals, recording information in SAP, operating machines, and disposing of materials, chemicals, and biologics. Uses 5S standards to ensure a clean and safe work environment. 
  • Maintain a level of operational discipline while executing assigned tasks that are performed according to standard operating procedures. You will weigh, measure, prepare, mix, monitor, and adjust chemical materials while operating large-scale reactors and other equipment used to produce life science research products. 
  • Collect samples of chemical solutions prepared and perform in-line product testing to resolve simple chemical issues before completing the production process. 
  • Carefully handle chemicals, observe the mixing process, and support Process Development and R&D by assisting with validation of equipment and other critical processes to maximize productivity and achieve business goals. 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of required policies, procedures, quality standards, good manufacturing practices, and safety environmental regulations through the development and demonstration of excellent documentation skills as required by local, federal, and company regulations. Perform basic troubleshooting and repair of large-scale equipment. 
  • Perform decontamination and prepare equipment for maintenance. Communicates inventory, planning, and quality issues to supervisor or appropriate department partner. 
  • Performs basic troubleshooting and repair of equipment, escalating to maintenance, as required.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equalivent is required. 
  • An associate degree with a chemical/biological background is a plus! 
  • 4-6 years of chemical/biological production experience required, preferably in a regulated environment. 
  • Intermediate-level math skills with the ability to convert units of measure and calculate ratios are required. 
  • Intermediate analytical skills are required. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools - Excel and Word are required. 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks. 
  • Must be detail-oriented. 
  • Experience working in compliance with hazardous material regulations and wastewater handling is helpful. 
  • Knowledge of handling reactors is a plus! Experience working with ERP systems, SAP is a plus. 
  • The ability to speak, read and write using business communication skills is required. (English).
