The Manufacturing Scientist position applies scientific principles and concepts for product transfer, process/product improvement, and troubleshooting activities.  Plans and executes studies to support product transfer, CAPA, customer complaints, troubleshooting, and product/process improvements.  Collects, analyzes/interprets, and summarizes technical data into concise reports that includes recommendations.  Develops, drafts, and updates process specifications and documents. 

Responsibilities

  • Provides detailed technical support to R&D and Manufacturing groups in order to determine product failure root cause and technical resolution.
  • Reviews and updates product specifications based on technical study and product knowledge in order to remove redundant activities with similar or better product performance.
  • Oversees product design and manufacturing transfer related activities to insure new product introductions into the manufacturing area are stable and manufacturable.
  • Investigates nonconformances and deviations. 
  • Determines impact to product performance, functionality, and customer use/safety.   
  • Initiates and processes engineering, document, and SAP changes. 
  • Drafts protocols, conducts studies, and creates reports for validation activities. 
  • Investigates customer complaints. 
  • Performs cost modeling. 
  • Analyzes various product and process structures in order to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce standard costs. 
  • Maintains and improves manufacturing processes to support new product launch activities. 

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Scientific field of biochemistry, immunology or molecular biology.  Master's degree and or Doctorate Degree in scientific field highly desirable.

 

Experience:  0 - 4 years' of experience related to the targeted area of technical expertise.

 

Skills:  Substantial understanding and knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to manufacturing.  Demonstrated technical problem solving capabilities through design of experiments, data analysis and critical thinking.  Works independently or within focused teams and with strong solution-oriented focus and task ownership drive.  Strong documentation, communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative & relationship management skills. Experience in SAP or similar ERP system desirable.
