Product Manager, Translational Research

We are looking for a highly motivated product manager to join our fast-paced team in the Digital Biology Group at Bio-Rad Laboratories, where we’re changing the world by pushing the boundaries of research and diagnostics with Droplet Digital PCR.  Product development experience in the life science research field is a must-have, specifically in the field of cancer/oncology.  Experience in PCR-based assays, kits or reagents is a plus, as is experience with selling products through eCommerce/web channels. We are seeking someone with strong knowledge of the Cancer research marketplace and a demonstrated ability to commercialize and position products into these markets.  A successful candidate for this role is someone passionate and unwavering in their representation as the voice of customer on all projects – a product and market champion who knows when and how to go to the mat for the needs of the customer, and when to yield in favor of an alternate path.  The life science and translational research markets are evolving quickly with both internal and external forces that drive aggressive timelines and high expectations to deliver quality solution to customers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate globally with commercial organization on voice of the customer inputs, competitive intelligence, and market trends in order to contribute to the Oncology product roadmap.
• Define and bring to market new products and/or workflows for the Oncology translational research market in line with the group’s overall business strategy.
• Assist in specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by ongoing visits to customers and non-customers.
• Construct and deliver compelling stories to the research markets that promote the portfolio of ddPCR products and the customer problems the products are intended to solve.
• Contribute to the development and execution of digital marketing strategies, led by program marketing, to deliver on the group’s sales and revenue goals.

Qualifications

• Innovative and strategic thinkers, action driven, flexible in changing direction and methods, thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities, succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and provide immediate contribution.
• 3-5 years direct product management experience in the life sciences or closely related industry.
• BS in a molecular biology or similar field with knowledge of oncology; MS or PhD is a strong preference.
• Able to challenge status quo and actively voice opinions and ideas.
• Highly customer focused individuals who can routinely inspire the larger organization.
• Success in this team requires attention to detail, proven analytical skills, and an ability to master complex scientific material and convey these concepts to others in a compelling, understandable manner.
• Given the extensive contact our group has with multiple internal and external parties; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential.
• A Bio-Rad marketing professional communicates product and solution vision to development and implementation teams.
• Investigate, select, and drive the development of products through voice of customer.
