Production Chemist II

Bio-Rad is seeking a Production Chemist II. This position performs a broad variety of production processes. Products including different types of resin for purification (Cation, Anion, and affinity binding forms), different kinds of polymers (Bio-Lyte), Isoelectric polymer solution (IPG solution), etc. This position will also perform data analysis, troubleshooting, working with the Development team, R&D team and QC team to perform Root Cause Analysis, product improvement processes, and new product introduction.

Responsibilities

• Manufactures product in accordance with approved written procedures and policies. Ensures and maintain appropriately calibrated equipment is available for operation.
• Perform data entry and inventory control utilizing the SAP database. Involved in the scale-up, purification, process optimization, technology transfer, and process validation activities. Generates new procedures under the review of the division Production Supervisor.
• May provide work leadership and participate in the training and development of lower level personnel.
• Participates and delivers documentation to post-production meeting.
• Proposes and/or completes corrective actions to improve product or processes.
• Assists ME and R&D during product transfer.
• Perform root cause analysis to address specific quality issues or investigation of noncompliance.
• Performs product leadership responsibilities by assessing the product, conducts, reviews, and analyzes data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in chemistry or related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
• 2+ years in all laboratory environments performing analyses in the areas of chemistry, biochemistry, or associated areas of life sciences. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• Working knowledge of and application of principles, theories, and practices of the chemist profession.
• Experience using good manufacturing practices (cGMP) in a federally-regulated environment, or in a regulated industry.
• Good skills in GMP and GLP and have good documentation skills.
• Good knowledge of computer software programs such as Excel, Word, Lotus Notes, etc. Experience in SAP is a plus.
• Ability to lead and coordinate work in a team, perform RCA, process improvement, and make decisions of moderate scope.
• Experience in writing SOP, Work Instruction, generating reports and trending data.
• Good organization, communication, multitasking, and computer skills.
• Attention to detail.
