At the Digital Biology Center in beautiful Pleasanton (a division of Bio-Rad) we are a Center of Innovation. We use droplet digital PCR to power a super-precise, molecular counting of nucleic acids. Building on the high precision, reproducibility, and increased sensitivity of ddPCR, we are expanding into Quality Control applications for Cell and Gene Therapy as well as Oncology applications. This means generating applications and products that enable the Cell and Gene therapy market to advance in one of the most challenging areas, manufacturing.  We’re looking for a motivated and skilled Research Associate to join our assay development team.

Responsibilities

  • You will work alongside others on the development of new ddPCR assays for molecular oncology and biopharmaceutical applications such as cell and gene therapies.
  • You will design and develop novel ddPCR assays for specific molecular targets and perform validation testing to ensure that new products meet requirements.
  • You will plan, execute, and analyze laboratory studies for the development and optimization of new ddPCR tests, write documents and reports on your studies, communicate results to the assay development group, develop performance testing methods and acceptance criteria, and participate in other development activities necessary for the launch of new products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or related life science field with 2 or more years of relevant industry experience or a Master's degree in molecular biology or related field with 3 or more years of industry experience.
  • Skills in molecular biology and PCR/qPCR assay design.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in optimizing, developing, and validating PCR assays.
  • Demonstrated experience with DNA/RNA extraction from blood/cells/tissues.
  • Strong ability to communicate and present results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent analytical and data analysis skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and organization.
  • Demonstrated skills in team-based work and/or collaborations.
  • Ability to draft and critically review technical documents, including test plans and reports.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as JMP.
  • Knowledge of oncology and/or biopharmaceutical practices is a plus.
