Scientist, Molecular Biology

We are seeking an outstanding Molecular Biology Scientist to join the Advanced Technology Group to support the development of new reagent solutions for novel platform initiatives at the concept stage. This is a unique cross-disciplinary position that will work closely with a variety of groups including Biochemistry, Microfluidics, and Engineering. Candidates must have a broad experience of biochemistry and be able to apply that knowledge creatively and independently to solve problems and navigate highly complex experiments. Highly analytical and flexible scientists that can synthesize and leverage learned information across multiple data sets will excel in this position. Any method may be deployed provided it is fit for purpose. You will immediately contribute and play a major role in laying the technology foundation for BioRad’s product portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Work at the interface with biological material and develop sample prep solutions and rapid amplificaton and detection techniues that fit ongoing platform concepts.
• Solve the key fundamental reagent problems to deliver Proof of Concept for novel assay systems.
• Significantly improve our understanding of the problem space and persistent areas of concern by performing highly matrixed experiments.
• Planning and execution of experiments, in-depth analysis and reporting of through documentation and presentations.
• Contribute identified reagent solutions to cross-disciplinary Engineering teams to ensure project milestones and product performance.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar fields with a minimum of 1+ years postdoctoral or industry experience or a Masters with a minimum of 5+ years of industry experience.
• 3+ years of hands on biochemistry experience in an academic or industrial setting.
• Demonstrated work developing and troubleshooting complex novel assays and systems.
• Experience with a broad variety of molecular biology and analytical techniques including NGS, qPCR, RT-qPCR, ddPCR, FISH, PAGE, primer design, and/or nucleic acid isolation and manipulation.
• Proven ability to use a variety of scientific equipment including microscopes, plate readers, Bioanalyzers, gel imagers, real-time PCR instruments, etc.
• The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and continuously adapt to incoming data and feedback.
• Experience with processing human clinical samples (e.g. blood, solid tissues, biopsies, fresh frozen, FFPE) a plus.
