Performs tasks associated with the design, programming, testing, documentation, and implementation of software development which range from small modules to large multi-programming projects. The job requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.  This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of employees so classified.  Management reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties to accommodate business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develops /implements new software, Maintains existing software.
  • May contribute to the user interface design and to the functional and design specifications of the software.
  • Uses formal methods and tools of software analysis and design.
  • Responsible for programming and clinical data management support activities including: electronic data collection, form design, user requirements, edit rules/checks, query logic, data validations, and precision analysis and ROC curves.
  • Assists in defining and/or creating modular, well documented source codes to prepare data listings, summary table validation, analysis, data specifications and/or process data transfers for review and/or data audit.
  • Validates/develops macros and tools that can be used for a wide variety of applications.
  • Creates departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) /Job Aids as needed. 

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, software engineering or related engineering discipline.  Consideration will be given to holders of graduate degrees in an appropriate Biological science or Medical technology with the required experience in computer science or statistics detailed below.

 

Experience:  2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and work.

 

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of software design, architecture, coding languages, validation/verification, and industry standard software development practices.
  • Strong software documentation, troubleshooting, problem solving, organizational, teamwork, communication, and listening skills.
  • Proficiency with Python 3.x is required.
  • Experience with SQL queries and relational databases is required.
  • Experience in the following technologies is strongly desirable:Django/Flask, HTML/CSS
  • Basic Knowledge of Linux is desirable. Bonus: Familiarity with SAS or R.
