Bio-Rad is looking for a Sr. Director of Business Planning  and Transformation. This key role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and sits in our Bio-Rad headquarters, located in Hercules, CA.

As the trusted partner and advisor to the COO, this position manages and drives key corporate processes & initiatives established by senior operations management. Ensures core planning processes and high priority projects are operating efficiently, meeting key objectives and commitments. Coordinates and leads initiatives and management reviews to ensure key milestones are met and that critical operations issues, budget and staffing constraints are resolved. Communicates project objectives, expectations, and timetables across functions to ensure that project understanding and commitment is achieved.


  • Simultaneously drives multiple high-profile projects and core processes (eg strategic planning), ensuring cross-functional teams stay focused and moving forward on strategic project goals. Manages dependencies and removes obstacles including budget and staffing constraints that may impact the achievement of key project objectives.
  • Manages and leads critical project meetings ensuring reviews, milestone requirements and associated documentation meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains KPIs, dashboards, and other tracking mechanisms to provide visibility to key stakeholders on large scale projects and initiatives. This includes working with key stakeholders to define key performance measures that drive program analytics and supporting broader program management efforts.
  • Oversees action-item tracking and ensures all parties consistently follow-through on all deliverables that impact project success.
  • Identifies, prioritizes and surfaces topics and issues that require COO attention along with suggestions for mitigation or resolution.
  • Partners with senior leaders to support development and execution of their strategic plans.


  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required, MBA desirable.
  • 10+ years’ experience developing, evaluating and/or managing operational programs and initiatives.
  • Experience working directly for C-level executives, and with multiple groups and functions.
  • Demonstrated results in leading cross-functional teams to execute projects and corporate initiatives and meet broad business goals.
  • Ability to develop cross-functional executive relationships, build rapport and trust, and influence decision-makers.
  • Strong financial and strategic planning process experience aligned with strong project and program management skills and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to combine and balance qualitative analysis with a proven understanding of strategy, operations, interpersonal and technical competencies.
  • Proven business judgement and acumen to help outline options and recommend solutions.
