Bio-Rad is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Scientist to support the growth and new product introduction in a manufacturing plant that produces Process chromatography resins, digital PCR reagents, and other specialized life science products. The successful individual will be responsible for the Small-Scale Laboratory activities including New Product Introduction of the PDot line of products. This individual will collaborate extensively with others in Chemical Development, Production and Engineering Departments. They will also work with R&D and Marketing to ensure that the site meets expectations set with increased production volume and with new products introductions or technology transfers. They will be called upon to support existing processes and ensure that site goals for growth and cost are met.

How You’ll Make An Impact:

  • Lead team of chemists responsible for small scale manufacturing of existing and new products and processes.
  • Analyze and interpret data, write technical reports, develop processes, and provide recommendations on new product manufacturing viability and constraints.
  • Author, update, or review validation/qualification studies and generate reports summarizing work and recommendations for scale up of existing products.
  • Advise and collaborate with other senior staff members at site and stakeholders to ensure that new projects are designed to be sustainable as customer demand grows.
  • Apply a variety of scientific principles and concepts to investigate feasibility of new products and generate potential intellectual property.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges related to product development and current product portfolio to support efficient and quality manufacturing of products.
  • Review, revise or create SAP data required for manufacturing, quality control, or for costing.
  • Identifying root causes of product failures and determining required steps for rework or for Material Specifications, Production, and Quality Control Procedures utilizing the Quality Notification Process.
  • Support short-term and long-term site capacity planning and capital planning programs.
  • Drive Quality Notification and Management of Change completion for select products and processes.
  • Drive improvements in value stream performance by documenting the current state, developing the future state, and driving progress to achieve the future state.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Scientific field, in biologic and/or chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material science disciplines; with a Master's Degree and/or Doctorate Degree in a scientific field highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years industry or research experience is required.
  • Previous direct supervision of work team is required. Experience leading a project or cross functional team may be acceptable, depending on scope of responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively and build relationships through inter-organization collaborations at different levels within the organization
  • Strong documentation, communication (e.g., written and verbal), and interpersonal skills including consultative and relationship management skills.
  • Efficient interpersonal and communication skills with positive and professional attitude.
  • Strong analytical skills and be able to think and work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to lead other through change and continuous improvement.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $127,000 to $174,700 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
