WEBVTT 00:00:04.337 --> 00:00:07.424 It’s a really difficult question because there are so many. 00:00:08.466 --> 00:00:11.386 There are constantly women 00:00:11.386 --> 00:00:14.889 doing and bringing things into the world that are simply astounding. 00:00:15.974 --> 00:00:17.267 So it's hard to pick just one. 00:00:17.267 --> 00:00:18.810 I think it's not just one woman. 00:00:18.810 --> 00:00:21.646 The powerful women in my lives are my friends. 00:00:22.564 --> 00:00:26.526 For instance, my friend Fabiana Angelini, she's this powerful woman. 00:00:26.526 --> 00:00:27.736 She knows her voice. 00:00:27.736 --> 00:00:30.405 Those women are my mother and my grandmother. 00:00:30.405 --> 00:00:34.117 They are or have been powerful in their own way 00:00:34.117 --> 00:00:36.536 and inspirational in many, many ways 00:00:36.536 --> 00:00:37.495 in my personal life. 00:00:41.833 --> 00:00:43.626 I'm both inspired 00:00:43.626 --> 00:00:48.131 and proud to work for a company that was co-founded by a woman in 1952. 00:00:48.131 --> 00:00:50.967 You didn't see a lot of women in those kinds of roles back 00:00:50.967 --> 00:00:54.137 then, and certainly growing up we weren't exposed to that much. 00:00:54.137 --> 00:00:56.181 In the fifties, you think of fifties housewives. 00:00:56.181 --> 00:01:00.101 You don't think of fifties business women, much less in science. 00:01:00.101 --> 00:01:03.605 So it's a heck of an achievement that 00:01:03.605 --> 00:01:05.440 a woman was part of a founding team. 00:01:05.440 --> 00:01:10.028 I can't imagine how she would have gone through and co-founded this company 00:01:10.028 --> 00:01:14.199 70 years ago with her husband, what she would have gone through in her life 00:01:14.199 --> 00:01:17.744 to get to where it is now. 00:01:17.744 --> 00:01:22.457 And with over 8000 employees working for Bio-Rad 00:01:22.457 --> 00:01:27.545 and it's been sustaining really well and it's so inspiring and so empowering 00:01:27.545 --> 00:01:30.006 to know the history of Alice Schwartz.
