As part of our Diversity and Inclusion Program here at Bio-Rad, we publish a monthly Multicultural Calendar of events that are commonly celebrated in the United States. Our goal is to feature a variety of events that help bring cultural awareness to various groups' histories, traditions, and accomplishments while also highlighting events important to us both as a company and a community.
Asian American and Pacific Islander Month: All May
Sometimes referred to as Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month, this annual event held each May celebrates the important role that Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) have played in our shared history. To learn more, click here.
Mental Health Awareness Month: All May
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a good reminder to focus on the importance of mental health and its impact on our well-being. Mental health conditions can affect anyone, regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, or income level. The good news is that mental health conditions are treatable. Memorial Day: May 27
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. Borne out of the Civil War, which ended in 1865, General John Logan (the national commander of the Grand Army of the republic) officially proclaimed it in his General Order No. 11 on May 5, 1868.
