Hanukkah: December 25-January 2

The Hanukkah story, which we commemorate each year on the 8-day festival of Hanukkah (Chanukah), is one of light over darkness. It celebrates the victory of the Maccabees, Jewish freedom fighters, who routed the Syrian-Greeks from the Holy Land and restored the Temple service. The culmination of the miracle was when a small bottle of pure oil—enough to fuel the Temple menorah for one day—burned for 8 days straight. To learn more, click here

Kwanzaa: December 26-January 1

Kwanzaa was founded in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga as a way to honor African culture and heritage.
