Currently, the Life Science Division of Bio-Rad Laboratories (Canada) is looking for the best candidate to fill the position of the Account Executive (Instrument Sales Specialist) covering Toronto and GTA. We seek a dynamic, self-motivated and results oriented individual with strong cold calling and closing skills.  Preferred candidates will bring an established knowledge of accounts and investigators.  Must be a team player that can work in a team-based environment.  This is a temporary role of 12-18 months.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Demonstrates, sells, and installs Bio-Rad’s Life Sciences line of capital equipment to customers.
  • Prospects for new opportunities, qualifies leads, and demonstrates value working closely with the field application specialist throughout the process.
  • Regularly interacts with training and product managers and other team members to acquire a thorough knowledge of Bio-Rad’s products.
  • Acts as an information source on complete workflows for current and prospective customers.
  • Responsible for working with field marketing for the generation of new sales leads through a variety of activities, including site visits, workshops, vendor shows, referrals, scientific conferences, etc.
  • Responsible for effective and timely follow-up on all of these leads, and all leads from other sources including the web, email, telephone inquiries, journal ads, etc.
  • Assists and may perform product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Coordinates members of their team to conduct customer-oriented follow-up on product shipments to ensure customer satisfaction and take advantage of cross-selling opportunities.
  • Supports team through SalesForce.com, handling task and calendar management, funnel management, sales call note databasing, sold product tracking database, etc.
  • Attends and actively participates in region’s sales conference calls and sales meetings.
  • Gathers and communicates information from the field, especially as it relates to new opportunities and ideas for increasing sales, improving current products, and developing new products or markets.
  • Along with his/her account team, builds a territory plan that consists of account and major product goals. Content will include major strategies, tactics and timelines.
  • Manages contacts, activities, calendar, and sales funnel through use of SFDC.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics or equivalent Life Science discipline (Master’s or advanced degrees preferred).
  • 5+ years’ sales experience, preferably in the life sciences setting, selling equipment or familiarity with the systems used in this environment
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation skills with the ability to refocus customer objections.
  • Strong closing and organizational skills
  • Candidate needs to be able to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to set up and demonstrate instrumentation without assistance.
  • Should have basic knowledge of computer use and software programs, e.g., Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with hands on experience in the following areas:
  • PCR and real-time (qPCR) techniques and applications.
  • Genomic sample prep workflow techniques, including knowledge of reagents and instrumentation used.
  • Digital PCR techniques and applications
  • Western Blotting and Imaging
  • FPLC/Chromatography
  • xMAP technology
