Sr Mgr, Product Management Informatics

The Senior Product Manager, Quality Systems Informatics leads new product development and sustaining for a family of diagnostics instrumentation and/or software across the full lifecycle-from opportunity definition through launch, sustainment, and obsolescence. The role is primarily internal (~80%), partnering with R&D, Global Supply Chain, and Quality/Regulatory to renew and execute the systems roadmap, ground requirements and business cases in customer needs, and plan disciplined obsolescence.

This role translates portfolio and product-line strategy and aligns market inputs into clear target product profiles and system-level requirements, and prioritizes the cross-functional sustaining work that protects customer experience and installed-base value. As day-to-day owner of systems NPD and sustaining execution, they ensure investments are well-characterized, commercially sound, and focused on maximizing portfolio value—platform adoption, supply continuity, product quality, and cost to serve.

Location: This position must be based in Irvine, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Requirements, TPPs & business cases: Translate segment strategy, customer and service feedback, and regulatory/technical constraints into target product profiles (TPPs) and system-level requirements for new and enhanced solutions. Build business cases for renewals, upgrades, and new features, with clear assumptions on installed base, conversion, volume, mix, pricing, cost-to-serve, and margin.
  • NPD & Sustaining core team:  Serve as the voice of the business and marketing lead on selected systems NPD and sustaining projects. Ensure gate reviews are supported by complete, high-quality documentation (requirements, business cases, risk registers, launch and roll-out plans) and that decisions, actions, and owners are clear.
  • Systems/Informatics roadmap & portfolio input: Maintain a clear view of the assigned systems installed base, architecture, and lifecycle status. Lead cross-functional engagement to build roadmaps that align product strategy with technical, regulatory, and programmatic requirements. With Franchise leaders and the VP, provide structured input (opportunity characterizations, risk/benefit trade-offs, upgrade implications) into systems roadmap and portfolio decisions.
  • Lifecycle, reliability & sustaining with R&D and Global Supply Chain: Monitor system performance (reliability, quality signals, complaints, field intervention rates, cost-to-serve) and work with R&D and Global Supply Chain to prioritize software and component changes, redesigns, and supply continuity actions. Coordinate sustaining and NPD work so upgrades, replacements, integrations, and obsolescence are technically and operationally feasible.
  • Launch & internal readiness: For new system launches and major enhancements (e.g. software releases), ensure internal readiness: demand signals, migration strategy, and procedures, and content for Regional Marketing and Commercial teams. Ensure stakeholders understand upgrade implications (what customers see, which SKUs disappear, which options replace them).

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing. Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MPH, MBA or similar) is desirable.
  • 8+ years in Diagnostics/Biotech/Med-Devices or related systems product, marketing, engineering, or program roles, with a proven record of system lifecycle management from product vision to obsolence - in a matrix enviroment.
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing methodologies, concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Abel to translate segment and franchise strategy into concrete product-line plans, commercial hypotheses, and measurable objectives for assigned products or segments.
  • Able to collect and interpret voice-of-customer, competitive information, and usage data to inform requirements and positioning.
