Manufacturing/Plant Manager II

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manufacturing/Plant Manager. This position directs an integrated team that provides superior products and service to Bio-Rad’s Clinical Diagnostics customers worldwide. This role works closely with commercial and portfolio business leaders to ensure development and execution of business processes, including order fulfillment, materials management, quality, engineering, manufacturing, and new product development and transfer. Provides leadership for customer satisfaction, process and cost improvement, flexibility, innovation and regulatory compliance. Develops team members through involvement, coaching and empowerment. Creates and implements manufacturing plans in support of the business plan. Decisions and recommendations are made in the face of uncertain and dynamic conditions, where errors in judgment may seriously impact customer or supplier relationships, result in substantial loss of scheduled production, or deterioration of product/service quality.

How You’ll Make An Impact: 

• Develops manufacturing strategies to meet business unit goals for new products, gross profit, inventory, delivery, plant utilization, quality and capital investment. 
• Creates and monitors plant policies to ensure that safety, quality and regulatory standards are met. 
• Implements programs to lower costs, improve working capital, and drive quality. 
• Takes the lead in creating an environment that encourages the involvement and commitment of everyone in the organization, aligned to satisfying customer needs and achieving business objectives. 
• Analyzes, resolves, and implements solutions to manufacturing execution issues to ensure a consistent pipeline of manufactured products to meet customer demand. 
• Sets operational budgets and controls and analyzes manufacturing operation costs including labor utilization, standard costs, scrap, waste, yields, material usage and rework. 
• Monitors operational progress, adjusts as needed, and reports on key metrics to GSC Management. 
• Leads three manufacturing locations, and is accountable for >130 team members.

What You Bring:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field. 
• Work Experience: 15+ years manufacturing production experience or closely related field with experience operating in a regulated environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• 12+ years of leadership/management experience
• Proven ability to lead and inspire large teams. 
• Thorough understanding of financial principles related to budgeting, setting standards, and variances and gross margin management to drive sound manufacturing decisions. 
• Operational knowledge of LEAN, GMP manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other quality tools. 
• Experienced with/knowledge of quality systems, materials management, production, purchasing, distribution, cost reduction, project management, engineering, EH&S, new production introduction, product transfer management, production scale up, and/or planning. 
• Proven ability to drive change resulting in cost savings. 
• Proven experience evaluating and implementing large automation projects. 
• Strong leadership and communication skills. 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 
• Ability to make sound business decisions. 
• Ability to develop subordinate managers and produce high performance teams across multi-departmental organizations.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $174,600 to $240,000 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
