Principal Developer

We are seeking a hands-on Principal Developer / Technical Lead to join our team.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the technical roadmap and co-designing a middleware solution. You will contribute to the software and cybersecurity design, collaborate with stakeholders, and define the technical solutions that support our business strategies and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and enforcement of technical best practices for on-premise middleware software solutions with a forward-looking mindset.
• Co-define and document software design, ensuring alignment with established standards and design patterns throughout implementation.
• Translate product requirements and business needs into clear technical requirements.
• Provide strategic direction and make high-level decisions throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Mentor and coach engineers and other technical team members to elevate technical quality and team performance.
• Establish and maintain coding and design standards.
• Act as a technical liaison between project managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment, quality, and timely delivery.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
• Travel: Occasional travel (1–2 times per month) to a vendor site in Germany is required.

How You’ll Make an Impact

In this role, you will:

• System Design & Development:
  Co-develop software system designs and implementation plans, ensuring alignment with best practices, non-functional requirements, and the full SDLC within an Agile environment.
• Security Frameworks:
  Demonstrate a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles to protect information and systems against threats and vulnerabilities, especially within regulated environments.
• Technical Leadership:
  Provide strategic guidance and technical direction to development teams, promoting adherence to industry standards and best practices.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  Work closely with IT, operations, and business leadership to ensure software and security strategies are in sync with organizational objectives.
• Innovation & Prototyping:
  Drive innovation by developing and presenting proof-of-concepts (POCs) for new ideas and technical solutions.

What you bring

• Masters in computer science or a related field.
• 8+ years of software design and development experience.
• Good knowledge of cybersecurity practices in a regulated environment.
• 10+ years of experience in C++, C#, .Net Core, Angular.
• Python programming is a plus.
• Experience in Lab Management Systems or Middleware preferred.
• Fully hands-on and is able to design, develop, test and deploy.
• Process drive development and able to measure code quality through code reviews and performance engineering.
• German speaking preferred.
• Experience working with medical or regulated products preferred.
