Assay Development Intern

As an intern in the Molecular Diagnostics team in Pleasanton, CA, you will be assisting with the development of assays and testing materials for women’s and reproductive health applications. The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of classroom laboratory experience (chemistry or molecular biology) in an undergraduate program. Experience with PCR is preferred, but not required. The candidate will own a project over the course of the internship that will produce novel contrived testing materials for our development applications, and will gain experience in several molecular biology applications, including enzymatic digestion and ddPCR. The candidate will also assist and support our team with other critical experiments and tests.

How You’ll Make An Impact: 

  • Develop contrived materials that are critical to our assay development process. 
  • Support the development of a novel assay that will significantly impact reproductive health. 
  • Learn and use cutting-edge molecular biology techniques and technologies, including ddPCR. 
  • Learn and use widely applicable data analysis techniques. 
  • Give a presentation at the end of the project and support project reports to the wider company.

What You Bring:

  • Education: Current sophomore/junior enrolled as an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in a STEM field or equivalent. 
  • Must have a 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale). 
  • Must have completed at least one year of laboratory coursework relating to chemistry or molecular biology in an undergraduate program. 
  • Proficient in basic laboratory techniques, such as pipetting. 
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills are required.

Compensation: The estimated hourly range for this position is $25 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
