On any given day, the intern will begin by partnering with Business Analysts on active product features to assess current processes, conducting discovery interviews to define problem statements, surface pain points, and map workflows end-to-end to identify where handoffs slow down or manual work accumulates. From there, the intern will translate those findings into actionable improvement opportunities, ideating on how process changes or AI solutions could address each one. The intern will also actively manage and prioritize the operations improvement roadmap, ensuring the highest-impact opportunities are sequenced and tracked. Throughout the day, the intern will generate and maintain product health KPIs in a centralized Confluence repository, validating that data pulls from Jira and Jama are running accurately and flagging any anomalies for discussion with their mentor. The work is a dynamic blend of discovery, process analysis, stakeholder collaboration, solution design, and data-driven reporting in a real production environment.

How You’ll Make An Impact:

  • Define and validate a core set of PO health KPIs in collaboration with product stakeholders, ensuring metrics are meaningful, actionable, and aligned to stakeholder needs.
  • Build and deploy a Product Metrics Dashboard that surfaces key data points including product backlog readiness, cycle time, and lead time indicators in a centralized repository.
  • Conduct an end-to-end process analysis of key product owner activities from feature request intake through delivery, identifying manual and non-value-added tasks that contribute to delays or waste.
  • Synthesize analytical findings into a prioritized operations improvement roadmap with clear rationale, effort estimates, and expected impact to guide future investment decisions.
  • Ideate and implement prioritized operational improvements leveraging process changes and AI solutions, documenting outcomes against expected impact and iterating as necessary.

What You Bring:

  • Education: Pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Experience working on software projects with an understanding of the software development lifecycle, including how features move from requirements through delivery.
  • Comfortable working with data metrics and visualizations, with the ability to define meaningful KPIs and present findings in a clear and accessible way.
  • Exposure to user experience principles or design thinking, with the ability to plan and conduct stakeholder interviews, synthesize findings into actionable insights, and communicate pain points and opportunities in a structured way.
  • Curious about AI and how emerging tools can be applied to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency, with the ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • 3.0 Minimum GPA.
  • Rising Juniors, Seniors, and Masters Students.
  • Be willing to make a full-time commitment of 40 hours a week for 9 weeks from June 15 to August 14, 2026.
