Bio-Rad in Cressier/Switzerland is looking for a hands-on software architect to join our team. You will be involved in the development of technical roadmap and architecture/design of cloud applications. Your duties will include defining software and cybersecurity architecture, communicating with stakeholders, and defining the solutions needed to implement business strategies and processes.

• System Design and Development: Creating architectural designs and plans for software systems, ensuring adherence to best practices, non functional requirmenets and SDLC processes in an Agile development environment.
• Security Frameworks: Good understanding of cybersecurity practices to safeguard information and systems from threats and vulnerabilities in a regulated environment.
• Technical Leadership: Providing guidance and direction to development teams, ensuring best practices and standards are followed.
• Collaboration: Working closely with other departments, such as IT, operations, and management, to align security and software strategies with organizational goals.
• Innovation: Implementing innovative ideas with POCs.

How You’ll Make an Impact

In this role, you will:

• Understand, communicate, develop and enforce solution architecture for on-premise middelware software that will eventually be deployed on AWS cloud in future. The architecture needs to be forward looking and ensure all best practices are followed with minimum changes required when the solution moves from on-premise to cloud.
• Define and document solution architecture, design software solutions and govern the implementation ensuring it complies to the architecture standards and design patterns.
• Translate business needs and product requirements into technical requirements for software applications.
• Guide the software development process through high-level decision making.
• The allocation between architecture and development is 40% and 60%, respectively.
• Coach and mentor software engineers, programmers, and other team members.
• Create and maintain design and code standards.
• Serve as a technical liaison among project managers, developers, and stakeholders ensuring the project is implemented with all best practices in mind and is able to meet the timelines.
• Work with third party vendors and collborate to ensure smoorth execution.
• Travel includes travelling to vendor site in Germany once or twice a month.

What you bring

• Masters in computer science or a related field.
• 8+ years of software architecture and design experience.
• Good knowledge of cybersecurity practices in a regulated environment.
• 8+ years of AWS experience (DynamoDB, Aurora Postgres, SQS, SNS, S3, Systems Manager).
• 10+ years of experience in C++, C#, .Net Core, Angular.
• Python programming is a plus.
• Experience in Lab Management Systems is a preferred.
• Fully hands-on and is able to design, develop, test and deploy.
• Process drive development and able to measure code quality through code reviews and perfromance engineering.
• German speaking would be an asset.
