Bio-Rad Sponsors Robotics Program at Local High School
June 30, 2023
This past school year, Bio-Rad was proud to again support the Robotics Club at Hercules High School. After working on their robot throughout the year, the Robotics Club was able to put their roving invention to the test at a pair of robotics competitions in the Bay Area.
The competitions included the First Teach Challenge in San Jose, California and the PIE Robotics Competition at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California.
In April, while donning the Bio-Rad green, the robot took 3rd place at the PIE Robotics Competition out of roughly 20 teams competing! From all of Bio-Rad, congrats to all the talented students who worked on this year's robot!
Our relationship with the Hercules High Robotics Club is managed by Bio-Rad's Community Involvement Task Force, part of our larger Diversity and Inclusion Program. Diversity and Inclusion Program Manager Frenchelle Franklin says that sponsorships of this kind help Bio-Rad stimulate the minds of local youth.
“We want to give back to our communities by aligning our knowledge and skills with the needs of youth in our communities, and this means sharing what we’ve learned along the way and showing them the opportunities available to them in various STEM fields.”
In addition to sponsoring the robotics program, Bio-Rad is involved in a number of community involvement initiatives in the Bay Area and beyond, including the Bio-Rad Explorer Program and our annual Bio-Rad Scholarship Program.
