Lean/Continuous Improvement - Intern (Manufacturing, Inventory and Materials)

Bio-Rad is looking for a Lean/Continuous Improvement Intern.

How You’ll Make An Impact: 

1. Supporting 1-2 Hercules operations in each of their improvements to inventory $, inbound freight cost, and ‘net scrap’ (i.e. expiry)
2. Kaizen preparation: Baseline Data collection and analysis, understanding MRP (impact of planning/buying, impact of key master data (safety stock, lead time, lot size, etc), and how these factors impact inventory dollars, inventory turns and product expiry
3. Post kaizen sustainment (of improvements) daily management, process indicators, standard work, and plant MORs
4. Participation on minimum of 1 Global Lean Kaizen
5. Implementation of local KPIs (Plant inventory dashboard) for each work area
6. Calculating financial impact of the kaizen teams supported

What You Bring:

• Education: Major in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, BioMedical engineering, Operations Management, Material management or equivalent
• Work Experience: Previous summer internships or work experience in laboratories, manufacturing environments working with electromechanical, chemical and/or mechanical devices
• Laboratory experience working with electrical/electro mechanical devices and equipment is a plus
• Strong interpersonal skills: Must work well/interact well with people of all levels of education, work experience and different functions/department
• Problem solver: natural curiosity, inquisitiveness and a seek-to-understand mentality
• Must have completed freshman, sophomore or junior year by June at an accredited college or university, with plans to return to school in the following term
• Have a grade point average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale)
• Be willing to make a full-time commitment of 40 hours a week for 9 weeks from June 16 - August 15, 2025
• Lives within commutable distance (50 miles) to Hercules, CA in order to participate in Bio-Rad's internship networking and development opportunities

Compensation: The estimated hourly range for this position is $25 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
