Data Scientist III

A Snapshot of Your Day 

You will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team based in Warsaw, Poland, dedicated to the development of a ground-breaking, ultrafast, highly multiplex system for detecting a broad range of human pathogens. As a highly experienced data analyst with a scientific background and extensive expertise in nucleic acid data analysis, your primary responsibility will be to provide support in designing molecular tests for infectious disease diagnosis. This will involve analyzing genomic and NGS data, as well as scientific papers, to offer valuable insights for assay development and assist in interpreting the output of amplification in multiplex assays. Additionally, you will have regular and collaborative communication with our team of accomplished data scientists based in the US.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Discovering sets of unique genomic sequences for PCR-based detection and differentiation of diverse taxa and genetic traits.
• Designing primers and probes with specific properties compatible with a unique, fast diagnostic system.
• Modifying and optimizing primer/probe combinations based on experimental results and literature.
• Analyzing multiplex PCR reactions using NGS data, including qualitative and quantitative analysis of amplicons.
• Presenting bioinformatic analysis results to non-professionals.

What You Bring

• Academic training in natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, or biology preferred).
• Exceptional practical knowledge of computational and statistical methods, including big data applications.
• Good understanding of nucleic acid-related biological, chemical, and physical processes.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in nucleic acid sequence analysis, including searching public repositories, NGS data analysis, and custom analysis pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python programming and scripting for data manipulation and visualization (R or Python).
• Experience with Debian-based Linux systems and command line tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse team members.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
