Upstream Process Development Scientist

Reporting to the Tech Transfer and Process Development Manager, the Upstream Process Development Scientist will be responsible for continual improvement and optimisation of raw material culture from hybridomas in the Bio-Rad Oxford antibody manufacturing unit. The position would involve all aspects of the optimisation from plan through experimental work to report writing and presentation at Change Control, together with SOP authoring.

The role also requires manufacturing of raw material following controlled SOPs and working to a defined schedule.

This is a lab based position.

How You'll Make an Impact:

• Identification of continuous improvement opportunities in raw materials in both process and culture development.
• Planning and execution of experimental work to show business benefits from the changes implemented including the repeatability and reproducibility at scale with stability data where required.
• Manufacture of raw materials following controlled processes when required.
• Participation in the detailed schedule and batch release of raw material culture production.
• Identifies and solves problems in experimental design and execution for raw materials processes and products.
• Makes detailed observations, analyzes data, interprets results, and presents summary conclusions.
• Conducts experiments designed to address technical problems within raw material manufacturing.
• Generates updated protocols, change control documentation, and delivers appropriate process training.
• Manages and contributes to the output of raw materials following a defined schedule and controlled manufacturing protocols.

What You Bring:

• Minimum MSc in a Life Science subject
• 2+ years of raw material culture ideally in a commercial setting using Bioreactors.
• Proven clone optimization experience ideally using AmBr250
• Troubleshooting experience in both technical and manufacturing
• Ability to culture cells to defined controlled processes
