Sr. Associate General Counsel

Bio-Rad is seeking an experienced, strategic attorney to serve as a Sr. Associate General Counsel – Corporate Functions.  Reporting directly to our EVP – General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, this exciting position will lead a team dedicated to providing top-notch legal support across critical areas such as litigation, employment, cybersecurity, real estate, privacy, and EHS matters. 

How You’ll Make An Impact: 

In this role, you will serve as the lead legal advisor on litigation and labor & employment matters, partnering closely with and/or supporting other Legal Department colleagues on international matters: 

• Provide counseling and support to the Bio-Rad Human Resources Department and the business on employee-related matters, including performance management, investigations, disputes, accommodations, compensation, employee agreements, and reorganizations. 
• Develop and execute a best-in-class litigation, discovery, and risk assessment/mitigation strategy aligned with Bio-Rad’s objectives. 
• Actively manage external advisors consistent with the Company’s strategic and financial objectives. 
• Lead a sophisticated team of lawyers responsible for providing legal advice on EHS, privacy, and real estate matters. 
• Serve as a trusted advisor, partner, and colleague while maintaining knowledge of legal and regulatory developments and other dynamics relevant to the Company and its industry. 
• Develop policies, as needed, and deliver training on legal and regulatory risk and mitigation measures. 
• Advance innovation and efficiency by leveraging technology and implementing process improvements.

What You Bring:

Minimum Requirements: 

• J.D. degree from an accredited institute. 
• Active membership in good standing in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status in California if not a member of the California bar 
• 12+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, preferably with combined law firm and in-house experience. 

Key Skills: 

• Significant experience managing complex litigation, pre-litigation, and employment matters for a multinational company, ideally in a highly regulated space. 
• Ability to communicate with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels, including at the executive level. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proven track record of developing effective working relationships across the enterprise. 
• Demonstrated success in developing key relationships across legal and business teams and other functions that foster an environment of partnership and proactive legal support. 
• Ability to provide strategic, practical legal advice aligned with Company objectives. 
• Excellent judgment and the ability to adapt and pivot quickly based on external dynamics. 
• Successful background managing and mentoring teams, with a focus on professional development. 
• Sense of humor.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $199,400 to $313,000 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
